The teaching period is divided into three parts: basic courses from September to December, options in January and February, and the internship from March to July. Around 10% of the lectures are shared with the master MIO (Master en Ingénierie Optique), a master’s degree offering professional training in optics. The course includes lectures, tutorials and labs work.
The Common Core (September-December) offers fundamental courses on the various aspects of light-matter interaction, as well as intensive experimental and numerical practice. The current year’s timetable is available here.
List of the core courses:
Nonlinear Optics and optics in anisotropic media
- Laser physics
- Atomic and molecular physics
- Quantum Optics
- Nonlinear optics and optics in anisotropic media
- Optics of condensed matter
- Metrology for quantum physics
- Methodology for sciences
The options (January-February) enable you to discover a wide range of very active research fields, with many internship and thesis topics on offer. At least 4 of the 6 options must be chosen. One option about Quantum Metrology, offered by the M2 ICFP Quantum Physics, can be taken in addition.
